Geez! I can’t believe it’s been about three months since I last posted. Well, I can believe it, but I don’t WANT to believe it.

Several quick news updates then:

1) My nephew was born at the end of January!! YAAAAAY!! Welcome to the world, DN!!

2) I’m pregnant for the third time. Due mid/end of August 2013. 🙂 On schedule for four kids by 2015. LOL.

3) DS has started preschool and the first month, he cried every day I dropped him off. But now, he wants to go early and just LOVES everything about school. (Especially crafts.) He is inordinately proud of himself and his creations. Our walls are covered in his masterpieces. (Saves me the trouble of finding “artwork.”)

4) DD is talking up a storm and absolutely a tyrant and utterly hilarious. She wants to do everything Big Brother does and it is both sweet and alarming.

5) DH’s maternal grandmother passed away on our 6th anniversary. DH had a chance to say goodbye by flying out to Honolulu the week before she passed. He’s flying out again this weekend for the funeral.

6) For Spring Break, we are heading to our annual LA/SD trip to visit family and friends. Can’t wait! (Well, mostly I am excited about the SD portion. heehee.)

7) Then, we’re also going to be flying out to DC for a few days to see my awesome DN before he gets too big! We gotta cram in as much traveling as possible before I get too huge to travel with two small children.

8) However, even though I will be nine months pregnant, that will NOT stop me from participating in the awesomeness known as JT!! We have fantastic tickets to their stadium tour at Candlestick Park. SO EXCITED. Words cannot even adequately describe it.

9) After three months of utter exhaustion and sleeping 10+ hours, I am now suffering from insomnia. I guess I banked all that sleep a little too early, eh? Now, I just stay up in the middle night worrying about taxes, craigslist, and re-decorating/cleaning the house for the new baby. Yup. Nesting is kicking my ass again. Again, with the earliness of this!!

10) I am super bored with TV now. Most of my shows are on hiatus (USA – WHY!?) and I am too lazy to get into new shows. At least JT has flooded my DVR lately, so I am happy.

OK. That’s all for now. Hopefully, I can/will more consistently update this blog. Thanks for sticking with me, peeps!!

I love to read. This year (thus far), I’ve read at least 133 books (and counting). Last year, I read 120. The year before that, 114. That, my friends, is a lot of books. I LOVE TO READ.

It helps, of course, that I am a very fast reader clocking in at about 80 pages an hour. That means I can generally get through most books within 1-2 days. I have found that I go through phases of reading a stack of books and then bingeing on hours of DVR’d shows. I can’t do both at the same time (though I’d sure like to!).

However. Next year, I would like to get a new project off the ground (another blog, if you must know), and that requires time and energy. And since I plan on being pregnant and therefore, even more tired, I would also like to keep up this early to bed thing I’ve got going on. Sadly, all our times are finite so in order to add more into my day, something’s got to go – and I guess I can slow down my reading. I think I’m going to aim for 100 books next year – which, I realize, is still a crap ton of books. But let’s just say a tiger can’t change all its stripes all at once, right?

I’ll blog more about my new project later. After all, I’ve got to save some material for other posts, right? 😉

It’s ridiculous but I am super behind on the shows that I watch. Since there are only so many hours in a day, I either get behind on my reading or my television watching. Some shows I can watch during the day when the kids are up (all the singing and dancing shows), but the violent ones, well, that’s for later. Except sometimes, I’m just not in the mood to watch right away and I end up with an entire season on DVR and then it becomes a burden. Yes, yes. Wah. But it’s still a problem.

These last few nights, DS has weaseled into sleeping in our room (he doesn’t care if we’re there or not, he just doesn’t want to sleep in his room). As a result, no reading for me. But lots of TV catching up. So, that’s good, right?

Last night, the Mandarin Mommies had a Mothers’ Night In and we watched House of Flying Daggers (with color commentary) and Blade: Trinity (with awesome commentary). We tend to eat a lot, laugh a lot, and watch ridiculous movies. 😀 (Sadly, all these ridiculous movies are owned and contributed by yours truly. What does that say about me and the fact that we watch them together?) It is always nice to hang out with good friends – even if it means lack of sleep the next morning. I am so thankful!

In case you missed my rant about The Dark Knight Rises, here’s a YouTube video courtesy of my brother. SPOILERS AHEAD!!

First off, if you haven’t seen the movie yet, MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD.

So, what I liked, first:

1) Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. She was smart, sexy, and funny. And hot.

2) Joseph Gordon Levitt. Because he is Joseph Gordon Levitt. RAWR.

3) Loved Batman’s cycle. Especially when it rounded corners.

4) The tech and visuals.

5) The emotional scene with Alfred Pennyworth when he confesses that he burned Rachel Dawes’s letter.

6) Cilian Murphy, because he’s awesome.
Ok. Now onto why I hate this movie with the fire of a thousand burning suns:

1) Way to character assassinate everybody, Nolan!! Commissioner Gordon, Bruce Wayne (for being a coward), Bane, Alfred, Talia, etc. You name it, Nolan ruined it.

2) Hi! Let’s send ALL OUR POLICEMAN UNDERGROUND at the SAME TIME! That doesn’t sound like a terrible idea at all!

3) Oh wait, they’re all trapped below ground? How will they ever get out? What? What’s a MANHOLE COVER??

4) And why do they bother keeping the policemen alive by sending them food and water when they BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF and KILL all the cops above ground?

5) Let’s have random colored people (mystical Arabs or something) chant weird things in weird languages to give pep talks to Bruce Wayne in the middle of a giant pit (with electricity and cable, natch) to help him succeed in jumping across broken rock walls without a rope!

6) How the hell did Bruce Wayne’s broken back get fixed when they were in the middle of a giant pit? By the only white person in the whole place?

7) Let’s ruin Talia.

8) Plus, let’s have Talia be the REAL leader of the League of Shadows – so much so that every one knows she’s the true leader ON SIGHT – but NO ONE ELSE has a clue. REALLY?

9) With all the possible Robins there are in canon (there are FOUR from which to choose), you take an obscure cop?

10) Neutron bombs? REALLY? Exploding over the bay is better than in Gotham City? (I suppose.) No blast radius? No CANCER FOREVER AFTER?

11) Let’s have 3,000 cops run straight into MACHINE GUN FIRE. Great idea. What is this, pre-revolutionary war tactics?

I. Just. Blargh.

I love Batman. You don’t understand how much I love Batman. But I fucking hated this movie. It’s been five days and I’m STILL pissed.

Just like some posts/articles/web content have trigger warnings for rape, violence, abuse, etc., they need trigger warnings on things for BABIES IN PERIL and SUFFERING. I just broke down weeping because this one book I’m reading had a 4 year old boy trapped in a fire who refused to come out of his room and follow his mommy out the house because she had to hold onto a 3 month old baby and an 18 month old baby. And he felt betrayed! And he DIED. And he is stuck there as a ghost in the burning house because he is SO MAD.

All I can think of is my own DS throwing a tantrum at the most inconvenient time and me trying to get him out of the house to save him but having no way to do it.

WHY!? Why are there books with such obvious WEEPING BAIT? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU AUTHORS??

That is all. Carry on.
